BIOGRAFÍA

Mar Sáez es una artista multidisciplinar que trabaja con fotografía, texto, vídeo y sonido. En 2021 recibe una beca de la Academia de España en Roma para realizar una residencia artística en la ciudad. Es licenciada en Psicología y Comunicación Audiovisual por la Universidad de Valencia. Amplía sus estudios y se especializa en fotografía contemporánea, teoría y proyectos artísticos. En su trabajo intenta explorar la complejidad de la identidad y la biopolítica intentando hacer un retrato, desde dentro, de las realidades que le preocupan y analizando los límites del género documental.

Su obra se ha mostrado internacionalmente en lugares como la Academia de España en Roma, The Gabarron Foundation de Nueva York, la Galería Retine Argentique de Marsella y F22 Foto Space de Hong Kong. También en festivales como KLAP Maison pour la Danse de Marsella, el de fotografía de Arlés o ferias como Paris Photo, London Art Fair, ARCO y Estampa. A nivel nacional, se ha expuesto en espacios como el Círculo de Bellas Artes, la sala Canal de Isabel II, la Biblioteca Nacional y el Museo América.

Recientemente ha sido finalista en el Premio Internacional de Fotografía Contemporánea Pilar Citoler 2022, seleccionada en Enaire 2022 y premiada durante dos años con el Premio LUX de la Asociación de Fotógrafos Profesionales de España (AFPE). También ha sido seleccionada en Festivales de fotografía como Emotiva, Scan en Cataluña, el de Fotoperiodismo de Albarracín, PhotON de Valencia y el Festival internacional Futures 2020 propuesta por PHotoEspaña, entre otros.

Sus proyectos se producen en plataformas como instalaciones, libros, documentos web y películas. Ha publicado dos fotolibros: Vera y Victoria (2016) y Gabriel (2018) con la editorial francesa André Frère Éditions. Su obra está presente en museos y colecciones privadas en Europa, Asia y Estados Unidos. Como artista está representada por la galería Daniel Cuevas en Madrid y Fifty Dots en Barcelona.

BIOGRAPHY

Mar Sáez is a multidisciplinary artist who works with photography, text, video, and sound. Her work has been recognized with artistic residencies and awards, among them the Academy of Spain in Rome Residency grant (2021) to develop an artistic project in the city.  She holds a Degree in Psychology and Audiovisual Communication from the University of Valencia. She has furthered her studies and specialized in contemporary photography, theory, and artistic projects. She uses her projects to explore the complexity of identity and biopolitics, while attempting to create a portrait, from within, of the realities that concern her and analysing the limits of the documentary genre.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in places such as the Spanish Academy in Rome, The Gabarron Foundation in New York, the Retine Argentique Gallery in Marseille, and F22 Foto Space in Hong Kong. In festivals such as KLAP Maison pour la Danse in Marseille, the photography festival in Arles, and fairs such as Paris Photo, London Art Fair, ARCO, and Estampa. Nationally, in Madrid, it has been exhibited in the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Canal Isabel II Museum, Biblioteca Nacional and Museo América.

She has recently been a finalist in the Pilar Citoler 2022 International Contemporary Photography Prize, Enaire 2022 and has been awarded the LUX Prize of the Association of Professional Photographers of Spain (AFPE) for two years. She has been selected for photography festivals such as Emotiva and Scan in Catalonia, the Albarracín Photojournalism Festival, PhotON in Valencia, and the Futures 2020 International Festival proposed by PHotoEspaña, among others.

Her projects are produced on platforms such as installations, books, web documents, and films. She has published two photo books: Vera and Victoria (2016) and Gabriel (2018) with the French publisher André Frère Éditions. Her work is present in museums and private collections in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
